Derma V Laser Treatment
Are you struggling with persistent redness, visible blood vessels, rosacea, or uneven pigmentation on the face or body? At Fitzrovia Clinic we understand how these concerns can bother patients and so we have invested in the latest and most-advanced laser technology available to treat them.
Derma V is, a cutting-edge dual-wavelength laser treatment, designed to precisely treat both vascular and pigment concerns in a non-invasive, clinician-led way, with a strong safety profile and minimal downtime. Treatments are tailored to your individual skin type and concern, with the aim of improving skin clarity, tone, and overall appearance.
The redness, visible vessels and uneven pigmentation patients notice in the mirror are often caused by superficial and deeper blood vessels, excess pigment, and ongoing skin inflammation. Derma V addresses these concerns using advanced dual-wavelength laser technology, combining 532 nm and 1064 nm to precisely target both vascular and pigment structures within the skin. This allows effective treatment of fine redness, broken capillaries, flushing and brown discolouration such as sun damage or post-inflammatory pigmentation. Integrated skin cooling protects surrounding tissue and helps maintain comfort throughout treatment, while the ability to deliver very short, precise pulses sets Derma V apart from other vascular lasers and IPL systems, enabling clearance of redness and vessels that other devices can struggle to treat.

FAQs
During treatment, the Derma V laser delivers precise energy to specific targets in the skin:
- Vascular targets: heat and collapse unwanted blood vessels responsible for redness and flushing
- Pigment targets: break down melanin clusters that cause age spots and uneven tone
- Cooling technology: Uniquely Derma V uses cryogen gas, lightly sprayed onto the skin before and after pulses, momentarily cooling the skin to -24 degrees. This maintains patient comfort and protects the skin throughout the treatment.
Derma V is highly customisable and can be tailored to a wide range of skin types and concerns, making it suitable for people experiencing:
- Persistent facial redness
- Rosacea (all redness-predominant subtypes)
- Facial flushing and heat-related redness
- Red nose and nasal veins
- Broken capillaries and thread veins (telangiectasia)
- Spider veins on the face and body
- Post-acne redness
- Redness following acne, inflammation or sun damage
- Uneven skin tone related to vascular change
- Uneven pigmentation, sun spots, and age marks
Your clinician will review your skin’s unique characteristics in your consultation and recommend a bespoke programme of treatment.
- Consultation & Assessment: A Fitzrovia clinician will assess your skin and discuss your goals.
- Cleansing & Protection: Your skin is cleansed and eye protection applied.
- Laser Delivery: The Derma V handpiece is passed over the target areas while precise pulses are delivered.
- Cooling Comfort: Advanced cryogen gas cools the skin during treatment and we may also use cold packs or a chiller at the end of treatment.
You don’t need numbing cream and most patients can tolerate treatment with only mild discomfort.
Many patients see improvement after just one treatment, with further benefits building over subsequent sessions. Most concerns — including redness, rosacea, and pigmentation — are best managed with a course of 3–6 treatments, spaced several weeks apart, depending on severity and individual response.
In some cases, isolated broken or enlarged capillaries may respond after a single session, while more widespread concerns typically require multiple treatments for optimal results.
You can usually return to normal activities immediately, with any redness or temporary flushing settling within hours. Some patients will experience mild swelling lasting 1-2 days if treated over the cheeks or around the eyes. Very occasionally swelling can be more noticeable and last a little longer. Treated pigmentation will darken before gently exfoliating away over 7-10 days after treatment. Sun protection post-treatment is essential to protect your results.
Derma V is generally well tolerated, with most patients reporting minimal discomfort thanks to the integrated cooling system. Feedback from our patients is that Derma V treatment is more comfortable than IPL.
Redness is not a single condition — it is caused by a complex combination of superficial and deeper blood vessels, inflammation, pigment, and vascular instability. This is why many patients see limited or short-lived results from IPL or older laser technologies.
DermaV is different.
DermaV is a dual-wavelength vascular laser that uses:
- 532nm to target superficial redness, broken capillaries, and fine vessels
- 1064nm to reach deeper, larger vessels and background flushing
This allows us to treat multiple causes of redness in one carefully controlled session, something many other devices cannot achieve.
DermaV is considered superior to IPL and traditional vascular lasers because it:
- Treats diffuse redness and individual veins with high precision
- Can safely address both surface and deeper vascular concerns
- Delivers consistent results with minimal downtime
- Allows full clinician control and customisation for sensitive or rosacea-prone skin
This is why DermaV is now recognised internationally as one of the most effective lasers for facial redness and rosacea, and why it is typically found only in specialist medical clinics.
Derma V is a highly effective vascular laser treatment for rosacea, particularly for patients troubled by persistent facial redness and flushing. In rosacea, the skin appears red or pink due to networks of tiny superficial blood vessels that sit close to the surface of the skin. Although often invisible to the naked eye, these vessels are responsible for the diffuse redness seen in rosacea and other causes of facial redness.
These fine blood vessels can be difficult to treat with many traditional lasers or IPL devices, as they require very short, precise pulses of energy to selectively close them without damaging surrounding skin. Derma V is specifically designed to deliver this level of precision, making it particularly well suited to laser treatment for rosacea and vascular redness.
Most patients require a course of 3–6 Derma V treatments, with settings carefully tailored to your individual skin tone, severity of rosacea, and pattern of redness.
At Fitzrovia Clinic in London, we commonly combine Derma V with bespoke prescription skincare to further reduce inflammation, strengthen the skin barrier, and improve other features of rosacea such as sensitivity and reactivity. This combined approach offers a predictable and long-term improvement in rosacea symptoms and appearance. To learn more about The Fitzrovia Rosacea Programme click here.
